Before you can modify a source-controlled file, you must check it out. When you check out a file, the latest file version is copied to your project. You can check out files either exclusively or nonexclusively. When you check out a file exclusively, no other user can check out the file until you check it in.

To correct this error

• Use the Check Out command to check out source-controlled projects and files.
